HVAC OVERVIEW

HVAC stands for Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. It is a sub-system of BMS; More specifically, HVAC systems integrate into BMS’s to allow the building owners to have more control over heating or cooling units. When integrated, the building owner or facilities manager can monitor all aspects of the system, schedule run times, optimise energy usage, and view alarms remotely. This intelligent room control significantly contributes to increasing energy efficiency in buildings – With HVAC scheduling, presence detection and air leakage alarming can save up to 35% on energy usage, depending on the building design, usage, and integration.

Both HVAC and Lighting Control Systems are fundamental systems within an EMS (Energy Management System).
